A person’s religious affiliation or lack thereof should not be a relevant factor in one’s candidacy. This week a hacker’s e-mail leak revealed the the Democratic National Committee was exploring ways to discredit the Senator Bernie Sanders’ (D-VT) bid for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination by questioning his heritage and current religious affiliation. The Secular Policy Institute condemns this behavior.
