North Carolina recently passed a law that has gained relative infamy for its provisions relating to multiple-occupancy bathrooms in public schools and government buildings (HB2). There have been high profile repercussions from entertainers cancelling events, to companies declining planned expansion in North Carolina, to the U.S. Department of Justice finding HB2 to be a civil rights violation. While citing ÔÇ£North CarolinaÔÇÖs rich legacy of inclusiveness, diversity and hospitality,ÔÇØ you issued an executive order with questionable efficacy following your signing of HB2. In the cause of civil rights and general fairness, the Secular Policy Institute and the below signed organizations call on you to reverse your position, resist HB2, and lead the charge for its repeal.
