Should a child–a girl, under 18–be forced to marry at the will of her family?

The Secular Policy Institute and our coalition partners remain steadfast in our opposition to child marriage. In Pakistan, this is part of political and religious practice, and robs young girls of their sexual agency–putting them at risk of STIs┬áand death by childbirth–as well as of the opportunity to get a good education

In an upcoming letter, we ask the President of Pakistan to support measures such as the Child Marriage Restraint Amendment, which was recently shot down, and to oppose cruel practices related to the forced marriage of young women for religious, traditional, and financial purposes.
